ŞİRİNCE VILLAGE TOUR (HALFDAY)

Tour Highlights

***Şirince village, which was reportedly once called Çirkince (ugly) by locals who didn’t want to hare their beautiful village with outsiders, sits on top of a mountain and continues to delights visitors today with its charm and beauty. Famous for its fruit wineries and handicrafts, Şirince was once a Greek village, prior to the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in the 1920s. Although Turkish people now inhabit the village and the interiors of the buildings are now decorated in Turkish style, the outside of the buildings have been preserved in the Greek style. Although the village was settled in the 15th century, most of what remains in the village today date back to the 19th century.

During this tour will have the chance to see a beautifully restored Orthodox church, taste some local wine and explore the cobblestoned streets where you will see the local women selling handicrafts and products made from local olive oil. We will have lunch at the beginning of the end of the tour, depending on the timing of your tour, in a restaurant famous for its home cooking of local dishes. After the tour will be dropped back to your Selçuk or Kuşadası hotel, or Kuşadası or İzmir port or İzmir airport.
